The Occupational English Test (OET) is tailored to address the precise English language requirements of the healthcare sector. It serves as a benchmark for assessing the language proficiency of healthcare professionals aspiring to practice in an English-speaking environment. OET evaluates all four language skills, with Writing and Speaking tests specifically designed for 12 different healthcare areas. The Reading and Listening tests remain consistent for all candidates.
OET is recognized as valid proof of English proficiency in several countries, including the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, Namibia, and Singapore. It serves as a vital requirement for registration in 12 distinct healthcare professions.
OET is administered by the Cambridge Boxhill Language Assessment Trust (CBLA), a collaborative effort between Cambridge English and Box Hill Institute. This partnership ensures the test’s credibility and relevance in assessing healthcare professionals’ language skills, facilitating their successful integration into English-speaking healthcare environments.
